We then see the woman and the girl running through the woods in their nightgowns. Offscreen, there was a thud; The woman was hit by a speeding car. In the ambulance, when a girl named Hannah (Naila Schuberth) says her mother’s name is Lena (Kim Riedle), the mother’s heart rate increases, as if from fear. At the hospital, a nurse checks on Hannah while Lena is in surgery. Hannah talks about all the strange rules she and her mother have to follow at home. Aida Kurt (Haley Louise Jones), the detective investigating the hit-and-run, arrives at the hospital to question Lena and Hannah. When Hannah starts talking to a therapist at the hospital, Aida walks in and thinks she can connect with the girl. Meanwhile, Gerd Bühling (Hans Löw), a CID agent who was assigned to the case of a missing girl named Lena Beck 13 years ago, hears about the hit-and-run incident and calls his parents. by Lena, Matthias and Karin Beck (Justus). von Dohnanyi, Julika Jenkins). He thinks the woman at the hospital could very well be their Lena, but he advises them to wait until he takes a look. However, Becks ignores her and makes the trip in the middle of the night, causing chaos at the hospital as Lena recovers and Aida tries to find out what Lena and Hannah are running from.

Based on the book by Romy Hausmann, Dear Child sets up a scenario in which viewers will relive what happened to Lena and Hannah as well as Aida and Gerd. Director and screenwriter Isabel Kleefeld adapted the book by breaking down the story by presenting each participant’s perspective.
